My name is Jess Nowell and I am a first grade teacher. This is my second year in the teaching profession, as well as my second year teaching at Doral! I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado (go Bears!) with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and a teaching certification in pre-K through fourth grade. My teaching centers around the belief that ALL children are capable of greatness and that it is the teacher's responsibility to expose and expand that greatness.
My mission as a teacher is to help my students discover the joy of learning, and develop a strong belief in his or her own abilities. I want them to do their best and to have a sense of pride in doing so. It is also of primary importance to me that my students appreciate and respect other peoples’ differences and grow to become wonderful humans. As your child will learn from day one in my class: we are a FAMILY, which means we are respectful and caring toward one another; this creates a safe classroom in which all students feel nurtured.
When I am not teaching, planning, thinking about bulletin board themes, etc. I enjoy reading, and attempting to cook (can’t win ‘em all). I married the love of my life in June of 2017, and am, therefore, also getting used to my new honorific and perfecting my new signature.
Together we can make first grade the best year possible for your child! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org. I am looking forward to an exciting and productive year with your student!
