I am excited to be involved in the adventure of opening Doral Academy of Colorado. I look forward to meeting all of the awesome families that will be part of the Doral Community.
I was born and raised in Boulder, CO and am an avid Colorado sports fan. In my free-time, I love reading, traveling, playing with my cat, dancing and being outside in nature. I have been involved with the teaching community for over eight years. After attending the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, I went on to Metropolitan State University where I did my licensure program and student teaching. I began my teaching career in Lamar, CO. where I taught second grade for two years. After that, I moved back to the Metro Area. Since then, I have taught, second grade, fifth grade and fourth grade. Currently, I am teaching fourth grade and am excited to be teaming with the 4th and 5th grade levels next year. Currently, I hold a Professional Colorado Teacher Licensure, as well as a Linguistically Diverse Education Certification. Teaching is my passion and I am especially excited for the arts integration that Doral provide.
I believe that educating the whole child and helping students to become creative problem solvers, leaders and life-long learners is vitally important. Students should love coming to school and be actively engaged in their learning. This can be achieved by having high behavioral and academic expectations maintained through consistent and efficient classroom systems and routines, an innovative approach to teaching, which includes incorporating computer skills in classroom work to broaden the knowledge base of students, as well as an arts focus where students have a chance to demonstrate their learning through art, dance, theater, music, or any other form of creative expression. My classroom will be hands-on, collaborative, and fun.
